Meet the Team

Our History

Susan McAfee and Mary Jo Norling established Neighborhood Kids' Corner as a natural expansion of their original child care center, Cinderella Preschool. Back in the mid-70s, Mary Jo brought Cinderella to life in San Carlos, and by 1980, Sue joined her on this journey. Cinderella was more than just a business- it was a heartfelt passion project that allowed Mary Jo and Sue to meet the growing needs of their local communities while keeping their own little ones close by throughout the day.

In 1981, Kids Corner School-Aged Childcare opened its doors and later made its new home at Roy Cloud School in 1983. They further expanded with a second location at Clifford School. When Mary Jo decided to retire in 2019, Sue took the lead at Clifford while continuing at Roy Cloud, nurturing and supporting generations of children from Redwood City. NKC proudly stands as one of California’s longest-running school-aged childcare centers, with Sue being a constant presence in Redwood City’s educational community. Today, she remains an active and dedicated businesswoman and a passionate advocate for families in Redwood City.
